Within the framework of the 9th Vietnam-Laos-China Three-Country Ball Throwing Festival in 2025, Phieng Loi village became a popular destination attracting many locals and tourists to visit and experience unique folk cultural and sports activities.
In Phieng Loi, the ball throwing and crossbow shooting competitions took place enthusiastically and attractively, drawing participation from athletes from many localities. Alongside these were traditional folk games and cultural exchange activities, creating a joyful, united atmosphere rich in the cultural identity of the ethnic groups.
A special highlight of Phieng Loi during this event was the rich and attractive Thai ethnic cuisine. Visitors could enjoy many famous traditional dishes such as grilled fish (pa pỉnh tộp), charcoal-grilled meat, chẳm chéo (a type of dipping sauce), sticky rice, bon soup, bitter bamboo shoots, lap (a type of sausage), buffalo skin salad, and various wild vegetables characteristic of the Northwest region. The dishes, prepared from natural ingredients and bearing the distinctive flavors of the mountains and forests, showcase the skill and sophistication of the Thai ethnic people's culinary culture.

Through a series of folk sports competitions, cultural exchanges, and the introduction of traditional cuisine in Phieng Loi village, the 9th Vietnam-Laos-China Three-Country Ball Throwing Festival not only contributes to preserving and promoting folk cultural values but also serves as an opportunity to promote the image of the people, culture, and tourism potential of Dien Bien to a wide audience of domestic and international tourists.
