TRADITIONAL SPORTS EXCHANGE DURING THE THREE-COUNTRY BALL THROWING FESTIVAL

This morning, December 19th, as part of the Vietnam-China-Laos Traditional Ball Throwing Festival, lively traditional sports competitions and exchanges took place in Phieng Loi Village, Dien Bien Phu Ward, Dien Bien Province.

More than 60 athletes from delegations representing Vietnam, China, Laos, and Lai Chau Province participated in the competition. The athletes competed in two traditional sports: crossbow shooting and ball throwing.

In the crossbow shooting event, athletes competed individually, in women's and team events, showcasing their aiming skills, accuracy, and competitive spirit.

For the ball throwing competition, teams competed in a team format, creating a joyful and lively atmosphere that attracted a large number of locals and tourists to cheer them on.

These are folk sports deeply rooted in the long-standing cultural life of the ethnic groups in the Northwest region and neighboring countries. The athletes competed with a spirit of solidarity, honesty, and sportsmanship, providing spectators with many exciting competitions. Through these activities, the preservation and promotion of traditional sports values ​​were contributed, while also strengthening cultural exchange and fostering solidarity and friendship among the people of Vietnam, China, and Laos; thereby promoting the culture and people of Dien Bien to friends both domestically and internationally.

Besides the sports competitions, a traditional rice cake pounding activity was also organized, attracting a large number of athletes and local people, adding another highlight to the festival.
